Flores: “FGV is an international leader in the rail sector capable of exporting their expertise”

The conseller for Infrastructure and Transport and Chairman of the Board of Directors of FGV, Mario Flores, attended this morning in Abu Dhabi (UAE) to sign the agreement establishing the conditions for the participation of Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) the future development of the tram project in this city, in collaboration with consulting firms and TYPSA SENER.

Flores stressed the importance of this contract “to be the first to FGV obtained abroad to contribute their experience and know-how in railway transport. Metrovalencia TRAM Alicante and have become international benchmarks in their sector that allow FGV can export and obtaining new contracts. ”

The head of Infrastructure and Transportation has stated that “from FGV is going to continue investing in this line of business and consulting firm, as has been done in LOGITREN, the first company in the rail freight operating in the Region and which already offers service between Valencia and Zaragoza. ”

“Undoubtedly the participation in the rail project in Abu Dhabi is good news for FGV but also for the sector Valencian companies that have the possibility to participate in other phases of construction of the transport infrastructure” , pointed Mario Flores.

After signing the contract, which was also attended by representatives of consultants and TYPSA SENER, the minister met with officials of the Department of Transport (DoT) of the UAE to see the projects that will develop in the future in infrastructure and transport.

First phase of Abu Dhabi tram                                                                         

The first phase of the study of light rail (LRT) / tram in Abu Dhabi is to design and develop a sustainable transport system that meets the needs of the area and allow redevelopment of the places running. The new network must have the latest technology, be efficient and adapted to the climatic conditions of the area, with temperatures reaching 45 degrees Celsius.

This first phase includes a performance on network 30 kilometers north of the city in a densely populated area, which encompasses the metropolitan area of Abu Dhabi and new areas like Al Sowwah Island (financial center) and Al Reem Island , Saadiyat or the Capital Museum and distrct.

25 years of experience in railway management

Mario Flores pointed out that “in his 25 years of experience, FGV has become a benchmark in the sector, as has always been committed to innovation in the management of metro and tram operations. In 1994 began operating the first modern tram network in Spain and since 2007 has in Alicante with the first train-tram service in our country. ”

Currently, FGV tram network operates the largest Spanish in Valencia and Alicante farms combining the exploitation of underground lines, tram, train, tram and suburban.

Metrovalencia holdings and provide quality service to its customers has led to FGV to apply the European Quality Standard UNE-EN 13816, awarded by AENOR, two subway lines, four tram and train-TRAM and implement access system contactless card in their facilities Metrovalencia and TRAM de Alicante.
