Commissioning of the Dénia-Gata de Gorgos section of Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant

On Monday, 16 January, the section between Gata de Gorgos and Dénia of Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia) will be put into service, so the entire route of this line can now be made by train, without the need to travel by bus.

With the commissioning of this section, users of Line 9 between Dénia and Benidorm must transfer from the new dual vehicles to the diesel trains in Teulada, as they cannot continue their journey for technical and accessibility reasons.

This line partially ceased to operate in 2016, as a result of the need to modernise it. In recent years, different sections have been opened to complete the arrival of the railroad to Dénia. During this process, the Generalitat has completed different actions with the aim of achieving the integral renovation and modernisation of this line, with a total investment of more than 150 million euros, financed in part with contributions from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund Comunitat Valenciana 2014-2020.
(ERDF 14-20).

The technical improvements and new infrastructures, as well as the incorporation of new rolling stock, are aimed at maintaining and improving operating conditions, ensuring the regularity and quality of service with similar standards to the rest of the FGV network in Alicante.

This section opens with the new designation of two stops located in the town of Dénia and renamed Bosc de Diana and Pedrera-Vessanes.
These two new stops have been built as part of the renovation works that have allowed the completion of the tramway along Joan Fuster Avenue and that end at Dénia station.
