The Generalitat restores normal TRAM d’Alacant service as of Monday 11 May

From Monday 11 May, the Generalitat will apply a new service timetable to the Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant operations, with the aim of restoring normal circulations and adapting the service to the demand for these means of transport, in this process of the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

This new restructuring of services established by the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility is included in the resolution of 7 May 2020, published today by the Official Journal of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), which establishes the measures on public rail and tram transport services provided by Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), pursuant to the provisions of Royal Decree 463/2020 of 14 March, which puts an end to the services that had been available since 6 April.

The Councillor for Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi España, explained that "the modification is made with the aim of continuing to guarantee that users can make their journeys, following the instructions that derive from the development of the health crisis caused by COVID-19".

Councillor Arcadi España highlighted that "the resolution establishes a maximum reduction of up to 2% of the ordinary service in the underground railway lines and 17% of the ordinary service in the tramway lines, so with this provision FGV will offer practically 100% of its standard circulations, in the lines in service, as opposed to the approximate 50% of circulations that have been provided in the last few weeks".

TRAM d’Alacant

In the TRAM d’Alacant network the service planned for non-school working days is restored, as the University of Alicante and the rest of the educational institutions are not open.  Line 3 (Luceros-El Campello) is back in service, while Line 5 (Porta del Mar-Plaça La Corunya) is still temporarily out of service.

For any questions TRAM d’Alacant customers can call 900 72 04 72 and can contact us via our twitter account @tramdealicante with opening hours from 6am to 12am from Monday to Saturday and from 7am to 12am on Sundays and public holidays.

Strengthening security and recommendations to users

Along with the obligation to wear a mask for all journeys on public transport, FGV has established the strengthening of the security system with the collaboration of the Security Forces.
The public company of the Generalitat reminds users that they have hand sanitising gel dispensers at the entrances to the main Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant stations.

Likewise, FGV has signposted the seats alternately to facilitate the correct distribution of passengers inside trains and trams while maintaining a safe distance from other users.

It is also recommended to avoid taking up the central aisle as much as possible, to allow free movement inside to get on or off the train or tram, and to wash your hands after using the transport service, even though FGV vehicles and facilities are disinfected regularly.

While waiting on the platforms, it is important to sit on the benches that are completely empty to maintain maximum separation from other people.

GV also informs you that the purchase of tickets at stations is made exclusively by credit card or ticket vending machines and that, temporarily, reports of lost objects, complaints and suggestions can be made through the website or the App (download from Google Play or Apple Store).

In Alicante, the Luceros Customer Area has been moved to the main ticket office of the same station
At the stations, users can contact FGV Customer Service staff through the intercoms located in the lobbies and on the platforms.
